Custer Monument in Monroe, Michigan

 

This is perhaps the finest tribute to General George Armstrong Custer in the entire country.  It took decades for those interested to erect the monument, when it was Libbie Custer was an aged woman and thousands of people from around the country were there for the ceremony.  If it weren’t for her valiant efforts in portraying her husband in a positive life starting very soon after he died, this monument may not have been and Custer himself may have been swept under the rug of history.  Cheers to Monroe Michigan for being the caretakers of not only this monument but[…]
